All of the best office designs have one thing in common–increased productivity! If you are searching for the perfect office design for your workspace, there are countless things you need to think of including furniture, flooring, and even the paint on the walls! Today we are diving into three different ways that you can design a productive office space.
Think About the Lighting
Lighting can make or break productivity, as insufficient lighting can lead to tired feelings and too much lighting can cause headaches and irritability. If you work in an office, you should use natural light bulbs and try to have as many sources of natural light throughout the office as possible, like windows and skylights. If you work from home, you should always open up the blinds and let natural light come inside to brighten your mood and increase your productivity.
Your Seating Matters
Ergonomics are another key factor in how much work you get done. If you aren’t very comfortable, it’s very difficult to get anything done! A properly-adjusted ergonomic chair and desk will make a huge difference in your comfort and your productivity. When choosing a chair, you should keep the following in mind:
- Eyes should be 24-36 inches away from the computer screen, and the very top of the computer monitor should be either at or below eye level
- Your feet should be able to rest on the floor or a footrest
- Your chair should be at a slightly reclined angle so that your spine won’t have too much pressure on it and you will avoid dealing with lower back pain
Bust Clutter
Finally, what does the area around your workspace look like? If it is cluttered and messy, there’s probably a good reason why you are having trouble getting anything done! You should always take time every morning and evening to tidy up your workspace and put things where they belong. Even if you don’t totally finish the task, you will make great progress towards getting everything the way that it should be.
